How long do hyaluronic acid fillers last?

Duration is a number, and one source gives it. This page quotes that line and turns it into steps for planning around it.

The number

my.clevelandclinic.org states: "Results from HA injections usually last six months to a year."

What that line asks of you

Plan around a range, not a date. The word usually means your own result may fall outside it, so ask your provider what to expect for you.

Steps for planning

  1. Mark the six-month and twelve-month points on your calendar after a treatment.
  2. Note any changes in the treated area as those points come near.
  3. Ask the provider when to return, and what to watch for before then.
  4. Read about the product itself in a PMC article on non-cross-linked and cross-linked hyaluronic acid fillers.

Two more documents

Penn Medicine's dermal fillers page and Yale Medicine's fact sheet on Botox and soft tissue fillers offer a way to compare what you are told.

Who to ask if the wording is unclear

Ask the injector to explain what HA stands for and which product they plan to use. In Saline, Michigan, that is a question for the consultation.
